House prices in England and Wales rose 8.4% year-on-year in June to reach levels last seen in summer 2006, new figures from the Land Registry show.
The average property value stood at £166,072 in June - up 0.1% from May, while the Land Registry's House Price Index saw the eight consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
Property prices rose in all regions on England and Wales in the year to June, with London experiencing the biggest increase at 12.2% and the North East seeing the lowest at 0.7%.
The highest monthly increase in June was in Wales with 2.9%, but prices in the North East region dropped 1.3% from May.
According to the latest figures available, the number of completed house sales was up 26% on the year in April from 39,280 to 49,323.
