Eurostar has announced it is to launch a new winter season service to the French Alps, something that could boost the buy-to-let market by providing an alternative mode of travel to flying.
The operator has revealed that its new service will commence on December 19th, with fares starting from £149 for a return ticket.
Passengers boarding at St Pancras International and Ashford International will be able to access direct services to Moutiers, Aime-La-Plagne and Bourg St Maurice, bringing them within reach of a number of popular resorts.
Such a development may bolster the property sector in the area as holiday rentals could grow in popularity due to the increased access to the region from Britain.
According to Eurostar's director of communications Mary Walsh, the service may be particularly attractive to tourists wary of the environmental consequences of flying.
"Eurostar offers the perfect solution for winter sports enthusiasts looking to avoid the stress of travelling by air whilst minimising their environmental impact," she stated.
Last month, French Property News told investors that a leaseback arrangement is a good way to buy in the country, as this is exempt from the normal 19.6 per cent VAT charge on new homes.
