As may befit a country that has a cultural heritage drawing on so many different traditions down the ages, Cyprus has plenty of variety to entice visitors from overseas, not least the British whose own connections with this island - a member of the Commonwealth - are well established.
Of course, some may say they are attracted by the lack of variety in one respect - that of the weather, with the sun shining on most days of the year. But while Cyprus has the climatic advantages of being an island in the Mediterranean with hot summers and warm winters, not to mention all that sand and surf, this is not all.
For property investors, the variety that the island has lies also in its facilities. One of its newest developments is the Venus Rock Golf Resort near Paphos, a partnership between Dolphin Capital Developers and Nikki Beach Hotels to develop the Nikki Beach Resort and Spa on the site.
The emergence of another golf resort is a further potential feather in the cap of a location that has recently opened a new airport terminal. The conclusion for investors may be that this sort of development can only enhance the overall tourist reputation of the town, bringing in more potential custom.
But in a country with so much variety the possibilities are very wide indeed. It is usually only in much larger countries one can both enjoy a hot and sunny beach holiday yet also go skiing. Cyprus, however, offers just this.
Such a point was made this week by Aristo Developers, which noted that Cyprus is "Not just a picturesque place in the summer, but an island with an emerging winter sports scene, where you really can ski in the morning for up to four months of the year, and then head to the coast and swim in the sea in the afternoon."
The skiing is to be had in the Troodos area, where the ski village is in season from late December to early April, offering a growing ski scene at "incredibly cheap" prices, the firm notes, as well as international competitions such as the Federation Internationale de Ski giant slalom.
To have such variety on one small island may be regarded as exceptional. But it also provides an interesting choice for investors, not least those who want to diversify. Indeed, a canny landlord could have a rental deal that offered people the chance to spend part of their holiday in the mountains amid the snow and the other half on the beach by the sea. As Cyprus has so much variety, investors may find many ways to make the most of it.
