Cheap flights choose Cyprus

In order to catch not only the summer season but also the Easter holiday period, XL Airways has become the latest airline to offer a new service to Cyprus.

The Mediterranean island has always been a popular destination for tourists but this year has seen the launch of a number of new flights as the demand from the UK continues to grow.

From February 6th, XL Airways will operate flights three times a week to the island's main airport in Larnaca from London Luton, according to FlightMapping.com.

The airline also states it is to base an aircraft in the city as it plans to increase the number of flights between the UK and Cyprus this coming summer.

Andy Fleming, the low-cost airline's commercial director told FlightMapping that if demand lives up to expectations, the airline will introduce new services from a number of regional airports across the UK so that customers are not faced with increased costs incurred by travelling to major transport hubs.

Such airports include: Durham Tees Valley, Humberside and East Midlands. The airline currently operates regular flights to Cyprus from Birmingham, Bristol, London Gatwick and Manchester.

The news comes as award-winning airline Monarch announced a new route beginning on March 26th.

Low-cost aviation links are one of the major impetuses for house price growth abroad for two reasons. Firstly, investors can jet over to inspect, manage and live in their property more easily and for a lower cost.

Furthermore, cheap flights also mean that tourists have better access to the location, many of whom will choose to rent privately rather spending their cash on costly hotels.

As well as considerable increases in the value of properties – asking price inflation are currently running at 6.3 per cent per annum – these extra flights should mean that investors have the chance to boost their rental yields.

Cyprus has long since been a favourite holiday destination of British tourist due to its 300 days plus of sunshine each year and vast array of beaches and holiday activities.

It is fast becoming the golfing capital of the Mediterranean as the authorities seek to diversify from the Club 18-30 holidays that were such a hit with younger holiday makers in the late 1990s.

Cyprus is aiming to become a more mature holiday destination for families and retiring as it is clamping down on loutish behaviour at its resorts and creating strict land laws that prevent spoiling the island's unique environment.
